Biscuit Dogs

What do you do when you need to come up with a cheap, fast, easy meal?  What if you have hot dogs but no buns or bread?  You make biscuit dogs!  Now I know some won’t touch hot dogs, but me, I LOVE my hot dogs.  These are cheese turkey dogs as my kids love them.  You take me to a ballgame and I will eat 5 hot dogs if you let me.  Well tonight it was getting close to 7:00 and I still hadn’t made anything, so we thought hot dogs with Mac and Cheese.  Easy and everyone likes it.

Then we found out we had no buns or bread.  Bummer.  But me I found some pizza dough…. well it was way past the expiration date (I need to toss some things more often) so I saw the can of Grand Biscuits and announced I was going to make biscuit dogs with cheese!

Everyone got to pick the cheese in with their dog, most picked Velveeta (I know I did!) and some had mozzarella which I heard was quite good too!  Everyone liked them, and really the biscuit added something different to them.  And to quote my husband “They taste like a hot dog in a biscuit with some cheese”

And yes… most of us dipped them in ketchup and/or mustard.

Biscuit Dogs

1 can of Grands Biscuits
1 pkg hot dogs
cheese of any kind you like
melted butter

Open the biscuits and roll out the dough so it’s almost as long as the hot dog and wide enough to wrap around it.  Place cheese on the biscuit, then the dog and roll.  Pinch the seam together a bit.  Lay on a cookie sheet (sprayed or buttered) seam down.  Brush roll up with melted butter.  This will make 8 as that is how many Grands Biscuits are in a can.

Bake at 400 for 15 min.  I turned mine at 10 min so it got brown all over.
